Congratulations to Nerve Connection Foundation Fellow Dr. Cassie Oxenford FRACP, MBBS, BSc who has been awarded a position in The University of British Columbia’s prestigious Clinical Neuromuscular Fellowship program. In July 2024 Dr Oxenford will travel to beautiful Vancouver for a 12-month placement working with world class neurology clinicians and researchers.

Brisbane trained neurologist, Dr Oxenford currently divides her time between research and her private neurology practice. Up until her departure she will continue her work at The University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research where she is a Nerve Connection Foundation Fellow and sub-investigator involved in international clinical trials with patients suffering from rare neuromuscular disorders.

In Canada Dr Oxenford will be based at the Neuromuscular Disease Unit at the Vancouver General Hospital. Here she will participate in clinics and research relating to the full spectrum of neuromuscular disorders, including motor neurone disease (known in Canada as ALS) and myasthenia gravis. With the support of the Foundation, Dr Oxenford will gain international experience and return to Australia in 2025 with advanced skillsets in the investigation and treatment of neuromuscular disease.
